Biography

Britta Ankenbauer, born in 1963, studied Social Sciences (M.A.) in Heidelberg and Vienna and later Textile Arts and Print Making in England (Dipl.HE). She is working as freelance artist, her studio is based in the Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei. , Britta founded the Atelier StoffARt in 2007 as center for textile studies and discussion around contemporary textile arts.

Author of several books, teacher and curator of international textile art exhibitions.

Teaching masterclass programs at the Schwabenakademie Irsee“ (Masterclass Textiles at the „Kunstsommer Irsee“ 2015 and 2019) and other academies (Springe, Stapelfeld) and yearlong classes for textile and mixed media studies.

Juried professional artist member“ in the Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA) and a member of the GEDOK Leipzig, member of the Internatial Surface Design Association (SDA).
